Have bike will travel for work
I’ve been blessed with a unique opportunity to build bikes. Have bike, will travel for work. While in Ventura, working with Team Exergy, I happened to have a day off. I choose to spend that day visiting the shops to promote Dealer Days at Sea Otter. At one of the shops, I happened to meet Robert and Susan. Maybe it was within a week when they gave me a call to come work on some bikes for them. Days and maybe even a couple of weeks went by, while logistics worked out.
The Big Dummy fits on the bike rack. Just remove the front wheel, and secure it in the FreeLoaders. Rest the bike on the bottom bracket, and secure in place. Easy.
The travel is easy. I’m very accustomed to multi modal transport with the Big Dummy. My travels for work, were sort of open ended, in that I had no solid idea what to expect. All I knew was that I was going to work on some bikes, and there were a lot of parts here and there. The process is a bit of a puzzle, involving organization, measuring a few parts, dealing with specs, and of course an unfamiliar work environment.
Tools are tools, grease is grease, and parts are parts. That only goes so far.
I know it sounds lame, but I’m accustomed to my metal grease gun. I’m not familiar to using a tube of grease. Allen wrenches are allen wrenches, but there is not a lot of organization. A tool box is a tool box, but its not my tool box. I don’t know where the little things are. Where is the chain holder? Where is the BB30 bearing presses, etc...
No big deal. Its just little stuff. Focus on the work, and things turn out nice.
From wrenching to pedaling... off to Solvang.
